Torrential rains in the past two days has brought much needed water to dams across Cyprus, totaling 3.5 million cubic meters, but flooding has been reported in several districts.
Water development official Faidros Roussis described the flow as very important, adding that water capacity was now at 80%. This time last year, capacity was at 48 percent.State radio reported that if the wet weather continues, it is possible that the Kouris dam will overflow.
Meanwhile, the torrential rain has caused flooding in the Larnaca district. Several houses were flooded and the Fire Brigade were called out to over 20 incidents.
Heavy winds, hail and storms have been bashing the south east since last night.
