Snow showers and thick fog reduced visibility on mountain roads and limited access to Troodos on Tuesday while rain continued to wash the rest of the island.

Heavy rain in the Kofinou area led to police warning motorists on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway to be especially vigilant.

According to state radio, some schools in the mountain areas were closed on Tuesday due to the bad weather.

According to the Meteorological Service forecast, rain and isolated storms are anticipated to give way to periods of sunshine by Tuesday afternoon.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 13°C inland, 14°C on the coasts and 2°C in the mountains, where frost is also forecast.

Some areas across Cyprus have been flooded according to police officials.
