New heat wave heading for Cyprus

The Met office warned of another heatwave, which will see temperatures soaring again across the island as of midweek.

Even though temperatures have dropped, another low pressure weather front is approaching the region, similar to what the island has experienced over the past week.Temperatures have been reaching 42oC in parts of the the island in recent days with the authorities issuing weather warnings last week.

On Thursday a 65-year-old woman became the first victim of the heat wave.

Today the weather has been generally cooler with some isolated rain in the mountains.

Temperatures reached 36 Celsius inland, 33 in the north, south and east coasts, 31 in the west coast and 28 Celsius up in the mountains.
