Afternoon storms may bring hail and rain during the next few days, the Met office announced on Thursday.

With a weak low pressure system in the region, partly cloudy weather in the mornings will give way to local rain and isolated storms later in the day, mainly in the mountains, the northeast and inland on Thursday, Friday and during the weekend.

Temperatures on Thursday are forecast to rise to 30C in Nicosia, 27C in coastal areas and 18C around Troodos and fall to 10C in the mountains and 18C in other parts of the island.

No significant change of temperatures is expected for the following two days but on Sunday it will likely be a little warmer.
