The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning in anticipation of extreme weather events this weekend.
It said that “isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the area, initially the western and northern areas” and soon spreading to the rest of the island.
Precipitation rates are expected to range between 35 and 50 millimetres per hour, while hail is also likely.
Winds will reach gale levels up to force 7 to 8 Beaufort, mainly in coastal areas.
“Take extra care in exposed areas, like mountains, forests and open terrain. Disruption to outdoor activities is possible,” the Department of Meteorology said.
The warning is valid from 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 18 to 6 a.m. on Sunday, November 19.
