With the mercury expected to hit a scorching 43 degrees celsius, the medical services, the Labour inspection department and the fire brigade are on high alert.
In a statement, the Labour inspection department reminded workers that based on current health and safety legislation in the workplace, every employer must ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of all their staff, ensuring acceptable and safe working conditions.So far, the Labour Ministry has not ordered the interruption of work in open spaces because of the weather conditions.
Meanwhile, doctors are advising members of the public to avoid consuming alcohol and heavy meals, including fatty foods, chocolates and spices, to drink plenty of water, and avoid long periods of exposure to direct sunlight.
