In June summer arrives in Cyprus. Temperatures continue to rise but do not reach their highest until July and August. By midday temperature climbs up to 28°C on the west coast, 30°C-31°C on the eastern-south coast and might soar towards 34°C inland. On the mountains it is pleasantly cooler with average maximum temperature of 25°C. The evenings in June, especially in the beginning of the month could still be a little chilly with temperatures reaching 18°C on the west coast, 20°C on the eastern-south coast and 19°C inland. As expected it is colder on the mountains at night with average temperatures of 15°C. Rain in June is considered rather unusual. The sea is already comfortable for swimming with temperatures about 24°C.
If spring is the right time to enjoy the natural beauty of Cyprus then summer months are perfect for basking in the sun. June is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and many other beach and water activities from sailing to scuba diving. Visit also one of the water parks that are located in Limassol, Paphos and Agia Napa areas. If you decide to explore the archeological sites, then do it early in the morning or in late afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day. If the summer heat makes you tired, try visiting the Troodos mountain where cooler weather makes it perfect for hiking or simply relaxing. There are also different cultural events that take place every year in June, for example Shakespearean nights at the ancient Kourion theater in Limassol area.
Recommended clothes are light weight summer clothing and long sleeve linen top or shirt for evenings. It is always a wise idea to use sun protection, such as hats, sunscreen and sunglasses. Have plenty of sun cream with you as well as a bottle of water.
