For probably the first time ever, snow has fallen in the holiday hotspot of Ayia Napa and surrounding villages. The brief flutter which started at 11.50 and lasted till 12:10, was hailed by many driver honking horns on the roads.
A major drop in temperatures across Cyprus has also seen snowfalls and freezing conditions on the mountains and the central plains.Today is expected to be the coldest day of the week.
Police have advised drivers that access to Troodos is possible only for four wheel drive vehicles or cars with snow chains.
The depth of snow on Mount Olympus is 20 centimeters with 10 in Troodos square.
