Cyprus is heading for a sizzling heat wave today, with temperatures set to soar to 42oC inland - that’s 8oC higher than the seasonal average.
Fortunately, the hot weather has coincided perfectly with the weekend – as most people head to the resorts or shelter indoors.From tomorrow there will be a slight drop in temperature, with some cooler breezes according to the Cyprus Weather Service, that say a warm air mass from Africa is responsible for the current sizzling conditions.
The high temperatures are also expected to push power demands to the limit as people to resort to switching on air conditioners for relief.
On Friday, the Department of Labour Inspection advised employers to take the proper measures to ensure the safety and health of their employees.
Those who work outside should be especially careful and should expose themselves to the heat as little as possible.
